Welcome to the 2020 Tennessee Arts Academy

June 24, 2020

Dear 2020 Tennessee Arts Academy Participant:

On behalf of the 2020 TAA faculty, artists, speakers, and staff, please know how delighted we are that you have chosen to attend the 2020 Tennessee Arts Academy.  This year's TAA experience has been carefully planned and transformed to provide practical information for your teaching, along with assistance in adjusting to the very new world of virtual learning. Our core mission remains the same. We aim to deepen your understanding of the role of the arts and provide increased competence and confidence in utilizing new arts techniques and methods in your teaching. Most importantly, we hope to rejuvenate and reaffirm the important role the arts play in your own life and in the lives of the students you teach.

No doubt, this year will be different! And we hope it will be different in a good way. We have created a completely new virtual platform that will allow you to easily access all of your classes, musings, performances, and interludes. The Academy day has been restructured to be more flexible. Besides your two core morning classes, you will have the flexibility each afternoon to take a minimum of one class or a maximum of four during the Interlude choice session time period.  We have also added a two-week post-Academy session that will enable you to easily complete earning 36 hours of professional development credit at your own pace. And because we are now virtual, we are able to bring in faculty, performers and speakers from all over the world. All very exciting! And know this…there will be some surprises to announce along the way that you are sure to enjoy.

Please browse around this site and familiarize yourself with all the features. If you have not downloaded ZOOM (our online classroom provider) to your computer, please do so by following the instructions on this website. If you have questions, feel free to email us at taa@belmont.edu and we will be glad to make sense of it all.

So as you have done this entire school year, please hang in there with us. There may be some glitches here and there along the way, but we will do everything we can to make sure you have a stellar TAA experience. Our entire Academy team is here (virtually!) to serve you. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help make this the best week possible.

All the best and stay safe!
